Piano Weave – Terms of Service
These Terms are the agreement between you and me, the developer of Piano Weave, for using the Piano Weave Android app (the "App") and the Piano Weave transcription server (the "Server"). By using the App you agree to them. How your data is handled is explained separately in the Privacy Policy. These Terms are available in English and Polish, and both versions say the same.
- Only transcribe music you have the right to use. Personal practice may be permitted under copyright law, but does not allow sharing or selling transcriptions without permission.
- Transcriptions are made by AI and can contain mistakes.
- Transcription on the official Server may be free or may use credits, and this can change. The App shows the cost before you start. 1 credit = 1 minute of audio. Purchased credits don't expire.
- Purchases and refund requests use Google Play Billing. Withdrawal rights and statutory remedies remain subject to purchase terms and mandatory law.
- You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time.
- Questions or complaints: contact.lumenchord@gmail.com. I reply within 14 days.
1. Who provides the App
Krzysztof Olszak, Brzozowa 4, 05-402 Otwock, Poland
Email: contact.lumenchord@gmail.com
2. What the App does
- Practice: shows MIDI songs as falling notes, plays them back and, in Wait Mode, waits for you to play the right notes.
- Transcription: the Server turns a video link, an audio or video file, or a recording you make in the App into a MIDI file.
- Processing capacity: when the Server is busy, I may run a transcription on GPU capacity from a third-party provider. This doesn't change the price, the credits used or the result. See the Privacy Policy for what data is sent.
- Library and cloud sync: keeps your songs on your device and, if you turn it on, backs them up to your own Google Drive.
- Other servers: you can connect the App to a transcription server run by someone else. That server's operator, not me, is responsible for it.
The App itself is free. Transcription on the official Server may be free, or paid with credits with some free minutes each month, and this can change over time. Before you start, the App shows whether a transcription uses credits and how many (see Credits and purchases).
3. What you need
- An Android device running Android 8.0 or newer.
- An internet connection for transcription and cloud sync. Practicing works offline.
- A Google account to buy or use credits on the official Server and for cloud sync.
- A microphone for Wait Mode and for recording.
- Piano Weave is a general-purpose music-learning application. If you are a minor or under the age where applicable law requires parental consent for using online services or processing personal data, you must have the permission or authorization of a parent or legal guardian.
4. Your music and your MIDI files
- Piano Weave is designed for personal music learning and practice.
- Submitting content: Only submit links, files, and recordings that you have the right to use—such as your own music, content for which you have permission, or use permitted under applicable law in your jurisdiction.
- Personal practice and copyright law: In many countries, copyright law provides exceptions or limitations that may permit copying or using music for private, non-commercial purposes, personal study, or similar activities, subject to applicable statutory conditions. Making a transcription for your own piano practice may therefore be permitted, depending on the applicable law, the source, and the circumstances. This does not automatically permit publishing, sharing, selling, or otherwise distributing the transcription. Public availability alone does not establish permission to download or copy a recording, and rules differ between countries.
- Platform terms and access restrictions: Statutory copyright exceptions for personal study do not override or alter third-party platform terms of service or technical access restrictions. Using Piano Weave or the Server does not grant rights under third-party platform contracts or resolve separate platform-access requirements.
- Sharing and distribution: A transcription of copyrighted music remains subject to the rights in the underlying work. You must not publish, share, sell, or distribute transcriptions unless you hold the necessary rights, the work is in the public domain, or distribution is explicitly permitted by law. Do not submit pirated files or unauthorized recordings of third parties.
- You keep all rights you have to what you submit. You allow the Server, and where needed third-party processing providers working for me, to process your submission solely to generate your transcription. Files and recordings are deleted shortly after processing; a short record of the transcription, including any video link, is kept for a limited time for operational and diagnostic purposes (see the Privacy Policy).
- Transcriptions are generated by AI models. They are an approximation of the music, not an exact published score, and may contain inaccurate or missing notes.
5. Rules
Please don't:
- submit illegal content;
- overload, attack or try to break into the Server, or get around its limits or billing;
- use automated tools to send transcriptions in bulk, or resell access to the Server;
- use the App's code in ways its license (PolyForm Noncommercial 1.0.0) doesn't allow.
If someone breaks these rules, I may refuse their transcriptions or block their access to the Server. If you think this happened to you by mistake, write to me: I will explain why and consider your response.
6. Credits and purchases
- What credits are: when transcription on the official Server is paid, 1 credit pays for 1 minute of audio. The App shows the cost before you start.
- Purchased vs. promotional credits: your balance may consist of purchased transcription credits (bought via Google Play) and free promotional credits (such as monthly grants or bonus minutes).
- Buying: credits are sold through Google Play, which handles payment processing. Prices are displayed in Google Play before purchase.
- Purchases and right of withdrawal: purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. When you buy credits, payment processing, withdrawal rights, and refund requests are handled through Google Play under its purchase procedures, the terms presented during purchase, and mandatory applicable law. Adding credits to your account does not waive statutory consumer remedies where mandatory law provides them.
- Refunds and statutory remedies: requests for refunds or payment cancellation should be submitted through Google Play. Recourse to Google Play's refund process does not exclude any mandatory legal obligations or remedies provided by applicable consumer protection law.
- Using credits: credits are taken when the Server accepts a transcription. If you cancel it, credits for the part already processed are kept. If a transcription doesn't finish for any other reason, its credits are returned.
- Limits: credits don't expire, can't be exchanged for money, and can't be moved to another account.
- Account deletion: deleting your account removes your account data and credit balance. Free promotional credits are forfeited upon deletion. Deleting an account does not automatically process a refund for unused purchased credits, but does not affect any mandatory statutory rights to a refund or other remedies under applicable law.
- Service shutdown: if the service is permanently shut down, notice will be provided in the App at least 30 days in advance so that credits can be used. Where required by applicable law, remaining purchased credits will be subject to appropriate remedies or refunds. Free promotional credits expire upon shutdown without compensation, subject to mandatory law.
7. Availability and changes
I work to keep the Server running, but it may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or outages. I may improve or change features, including whether transcription on the official Server is free or uses credits. Changes won't take away the credits you already have. Transcription speed and availability may vary with load and with whether a job runs on my own hardware or at a third-party provider. I am not responsible for outages of third-party providers beyond what these Terms and consumer law require.
8. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using the App at any time. To also remove your account and data, use the account deletion page.
- I can end this agreement with 30 days' notice by email or in the App, or straight away if you seriously break these Terms.
9. Responsibility
I am responsible for providing the App and Server as described in these Terms. I am not responsible for losses you could not have expected when you started using the App, for problems caused by other servers, other apps or Google services, or for how you use your transcriptions. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under consumer law, or my responsibility where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
10. Complaints
- Email contact.lumenchord@gmail.com. Tell me what went wrong and, if it's about a transcription or purchase, the song or the date.
- I will reply within 14 days.
- If we can't agree, consumers in Poland can get free help from their local consumer ombudsman (miejski lub powiatowy rzecznik konsumentów) or the Trade Inspection (Inspekcja Handlowa). Consumers in other EU countries can contact the European Consumer Centres Network.
11. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a dispute to the courts there.
12. Changes to these Terms
I may update these Terms, for example when the App changes or the law requires it. I will tell you in the App at least 14 days before a change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using the App and delete your account before then.
